A group of parents from a local activist organization called All Rise Alameda have launched an initiative to encourage families to let lawmakers know they support public schools. The initiative, called “P.S. I Love You,” is a letter writing campaign that asks children to write love letters to their public schools. After June 14th, these parents will bundle the letters and and hand-deliver them to our Members of Congress in Washington, DC. (They expect to do a second roll-out in early November and if all goes well, a national push in January 2018.) In the words of Chris Carroll, an Otis parent and one of the organizers, “Just imagine what a stack full of public school lover letters would say to our elected official? In five words? Keep fighting the good fight!”
Attached is a flyer to publicize this initiative – as well as templates that students can use to write their letters. Letters can be sent to “PS I Love You Campaign PO Box 2212, Alameda, CA 94501”. Or if you gather them at the school, Chris Carroll can pick them up. For more information, contact .
