Proposed City Ordinance on Flavored Tobacco

On Wednesday, November 7, Alameda City Council will consider an ordinance to ban the sale of flavored tobacco products like kid-friendly cigars and electronic cigarettes as well as require all tobacco retailers to apply annually for a license/permit to sell. Flavored tobacco products are frequently aimed at teens – the packaging resembles candy and sweet flavors mask the flavor of nicotine which is highly addictive. Here is the draft ordinance  and this is the meeting agenda.
